Jericoacoara is a peaceful fishing village on a virgin beach hidden behind the dunes of the northwest coast of Ceará State in northern Brazil, just under the equator, featuring 320 days of sunshine per year. Elected by the Washington Post as one of the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world, Jeri, as it is affectionately called by locals, is a small point of heaven on earth, surrounded by crystal blue freshwater lagoons, calm seas and huge dunes from where it is possible to admire the most beautiful sunset in Brazil. Since 1984, the area around Jericoacoara was declared an Environmental Protection Area (APA) and became a National Park in 2002. This brought many building restrictions and tourism controls that help to preserve it: There are no paved roads, only sand; and buildings can have a maximum of 2 floors. Not only is Jeri known as the home of Brazil’s most incredible beaches, but it is an undeveloped, eco-protected haven for lovers of the pure outdoors.
The constant wind between July and November makes Jericoacoara one of the best places in the world for windsurfing, kite-surfing and catamaran-sailing. But days can also be spent lazing around at the beach, sandboarding on the dunes, horse-riding, jogging, cycling and exploring the dunes by buggy or quad.
The distance from bigger cities and the difficult access across rivers by rafts, and over dunes and lakes also help to keep the beach and the village hidden from mass tourism. Only 15 years ago, Jeri was a fishing village, without any contact to modern civilization, where electricity was generated by diesel engines and street illumination came from the moon and the stars. After the Washington Post election was published, tourism grew rapidly and the beach village became one of the most charming secret destinations of the Brazilian coast welcoming celebrities from movies, TV and sports in search of privacy. Electricity arrived at the village in 1997 and today, hot showers and air conditioning are no longer considered a luxury. However, since illumination of the streets is forbidden by local law, the moon and the stars still illuminate the sandy streets and its cheerful and friendly inhabitants.

Accommodation
There are 4 suites and 2 bungalows at The Chili Beach Boutique Resort, each individually decorated with a thoughtful use of colour. Bright natural hues stand out against the all white suites where wooden furnishings and tiled flooring, terracotta vases, flourishing blooms and a few well-placed contemporary pieces create a relaxed, luxurious feel. Choose from the spacious Seaview or Parkview suites, each with large double beds decked out in crisp white Egyptian cotton linens and down pillows, soft fluffy towels in the large en-suite bathrooms, flat screen LCD TV & DVD/CD players, Satellite, iPod docking stations, WiFi, mini-bars and optional butler service. Each suite has a private tropical garden or patio and some have open-air showers.
The Parkview Bungalows have 1 or 2 bedrooms and a fully-equipped kitchen, living room, terrace and private garden, perfect for a more independent beach stay, or simply relax out on the private deckchairs and let the helpful staff look after everything.
Activities
The Chili Beach wellness area offers beauty treatments, Ayurveda & physiotherapy massages, manicures & pedicures for a pampering treat before a dip in the outdoor pool with a complimentary aperitif watching the sunset.
Guests can while away the day in the tropical gardens and sunbathing on the decking or for a more active day, embark on a daytrip to the nearby mangroves and take a canoe down the river where herds of sea horses can be found. There are a range of trips on offer by boat, quad bike, buggy, Land Rover, or on one of the Chili Beach’s horses. Sand board down the dunes in Tatajuba or take a longer trip on a 2-3 day off-road adventure to LençóisMaranhenses and trek across the dunes before a cooling bath in the freshwater lagoons.
Malhada Beach is great for swimming and the hotel offers windsurfing &kitesurfing lessons, while experts can rent equipment and head straight out to the surf. Guests can also take part in Capoeira and Maculélé lessons

My Blue Hotel

There are no TV or phones in the rooms as one of the intentions of Vila Kalango is to create an atmosphere that disconnects you from your everyday routines.
The accommodation options of Vila Kalangoare standards rooms located at ground level with an veranda and hammock ,garden view, and have a capacity for 3 guests. The first floor comfort apartments accommodate up to 4 guests. Both the standard and the comfort apartments are equipped with air conditioning and sunheated shower.
The rustic bungalows are spread around the garden and have a veranda with hammock.
